Posts: 252 06/11/07 06:18 PM	Tags : None Trowelled stone patio and steps. 2 mortar coats - 6 oz. brick integral color. Tape pattern. Final coat - 3 oz. palamino integral. Double strike slop trowel. Slop it down, let it dry some, knockdown surface. Pull tape. Stained stones 6-1 palamino, 6-1 chocolate, 4-1 desert beige, 6-1 forest green, 10-1 charcoal. Highlight with 15-1 charcoal. Highlight was too light...got a new SP sprayer and it put the stuff down so thin and even, that I didn't realize I didn't put enough down until I sealed. Oh well, they loved it. Posts: 252 06/14/07 03:42 PM	OK, here is a super top secret way to get a cool stone effect from tape. I used 1" tape on this job. I was able to stick one end of the tape on a top of a porch railing. Then, as I unrolled the tape I use a utility knife and go back and forth putting a "stone edge" on one side of the tape. Then you put the tape down, stone edge out one way, turn around and go the opposite way putting the "stone edge" out on the other side of the grout line, making sure to overlap the straight edge of the tape just a little. It's fairly fast and works good. If I was to do this job again I would put pieces of tape on the corners to make them less sharp.
