First all existing control joints and cracks were opened and made deeper.
The existing cracks were integrated into the mortared fieldstone design, and Sikaflex 2C-SL polyurethane was applied - gray for the "grout lines" and
brick red for the straight line joints. The project took 4 calendar weeks to complete with a crew size between 4 - 6. Five full and four partial days were lost
to rain. They're still waiting for 2 consecutive dry days to complete placement of brick colored self leveling sealant in 90% of the straight-line control
joints - the first day for the deck to dry, the second day to apply. 2C-SL is a 2 part high solids chemical curing product, so colder temps don't severely
impede curing like it would for an evaporative cured single component product (the sika you can buy in tubes at Home Depot). Customer has paid for 95% of the
project, the rest coming after the rest of the sealant is down. We exceeded their expectations; they love how it looks but are still concerned about
durability, something only time will heal.
Texture pave was colored w/ 4 oz Terra Cotta Portion Control, ultrastone colors were 10:1 terra cotta, desert beige, chocolate, and charcoal, with chocolate blend coat over all as last stain coat. Sealed with two coats of CSS at 2:1, the last coat with shark grip and 2 oz. Degussa Chromo-chem 844 Burnt Umber tint per 5 gallons of ready to use sealer.
Great example of Elite Crete as the perfect decorative option for the right customer, even for cracked exterior concrete in Southeast Michigan.
Final pics to come after all sealant is down.
This side of the pool is the only side complete with the brick sealant down - the rest of the deck will look like this when complete. Went with brick because 2C-SL doesn't come in dark enough brown to be as subdued as we needed it. Also note the pool cover anchors we had to work around on all 4 sides.
